Y'all remember the days in MLS when guys would go BACK to Europe in the off-season on loan?

Landon Donovan playing for Everton, Henry back at Arsenal, Beckham to Milan, Keane to Aston Villa....

What a strange thing, looking back on it....

Guys were just honestly bigger than the league and could do what they wanted at times.

That would never fly in the modern MLS, but honestly it was always fun watching these MLS players return to Europe to prove they still have it.

2012 - Thierry Henry was a RBNY player and was THE star of MLS alongside Beckham, went back to Arsenal on a short loan, and banged in the game winner in his first appearence within minutes of coming on.

2010 - Donovan went on loan to Everton and lit it up. He was named their player of the month at least once, maybe twice, and accumulated 11 combined goals and assists in just 22 games.

Here's Everton - Chelsea in 2010. LD is ALL OVER these highlights.

2012 - Robbie Keane went to Aston Villa on loan and scored 3 goals in 6 Premier League games, before returning to MLS and banging in 23 goals in 37 games for the Galaxy that year.

Scored this banger against Wolves.

I'll stop now, but it's just super strange to me looking back on this little era in MLS.

I'd be interested in seeing Jordan Morris in Winter 2021 get a 8-game stint for a team in Germany during the off-season or something, but it'll never happen. Those days are gone.
