Within 2 yrs Abiy & co have boached a rare chance at Ethiopia's shot in nation building because their retail understanding of the concept is to begin by rehabilitating dead emperors & a violent & ruthless military junta as some symbols.

..a project of rehabilitating "dead men with the blood of the opressed nations & nationalities in their hands..I was scared," he said, shortly before he was assassinated. It's indeed a scary concept of a nation building project, but surely not something advocated in this book.4/8
A look into the "reforms" in other areas is no less daunting. What began as a promising start to redeem the judiciary is now under siege by Abiy's cheerleaders, who are ordering him to go get, jail, kill & disappear his political adversaries, & a security apparatus DOING IT. 5/8.
And Ethiopia's foreign policy, particularly in the Horn is unraveling a confrontation b/n forces of centralizing & decentralizing of power, something the Horn has battled tooth & nail in post 1991's world order. No other country exemplifies this than Somalia.

What exactly is our FP toward Eritrea? What's the content of the peace deal Abiy signed with PIA? Why is the border not demilitarized & demarcated? Why are state visits b/n the 2 leaders spontaneous? Why are independent media not allowed to ask questions during these visits? 7/8
Also, what "political reform"? What happened after the unmoderated opening up of the politics? What happened to repeated calls for a meaningful dialogue b/n opposing forces? Where are those who called for it today, like Lidetu?
