Numerous times I tried deciphering the Strzok/Page texts for clues to the direction of the Russia investigation, only to have @walkafyre point out that the texts in question were about the Clinton email investigation (Mid-Year Exam).

It got to the point I started to doubt there ever was any Trump/Russian collusion investigation prior to the election.
That is certainly what Steele and Simpson believed.

In the IG report, we learn that Halper was sent to hit up his targets about the possibility of an "October Surprise." Of course, the surprise in question was the potential release of Hillary's emails.

Apparently Strzok believes the Crossfire Hurricane team should have been given the opportunity to investigate Donald Trump indefinitely. 🤷♂️
