What I Did on My Holidays

It had been a year since I last went camping due to C-19. On Thursday I escaped to the Peak District for some much needed R&R.

You want to see the highlights?

Aaaaaas yoooooooou wiiiiiiiisssssssh! #PrincessBride

(I am always impressed that Buttercup pushes The Man in Black off Carl Wark so hard that he lands nine miles away in Cave Dale. That's a good angry shove you've got there girl.)

Anyway back to the holiday.

Played a bit of Historic Graveyard Bingo in Castleton.

I scored for, "The stonemason accidentally ran out of space".

Spotted this Absolute Goth Unit hanging out on the War Memorial.

The capsite had stunning views across from Dovedale to Blackshaw Moor.

A superb wildlife spotting spot. I can report Lesser Spotted Woodpeckers in the trees to the right.

When returning from the toilets at 6am the next morning, I saw a distress flare go up over Blackshaw Moor. So I phoned it in. It turned out to be the army on a training thingy. Still, you never ignore a distress signal.

I didn't get a photo of the flare, but here's the dawn.

Ah Mackrell Sky!
T'was not long wet,
Nor long dry.

Popped into Leek for a bit. Happy memories of coming here with friends for a sesh when we were students. (One of the gang was from the town.)

Another round of Graveyard Bingo. This time we scored for, "Someone escaped".

I have always been confused by this shop in Staffordshire. I have never seen one of these shops in Yorkshire.

Please let my know if you spot one.

Sorry. I HAVE to post this again.

Up the Roaches for a wonderful wander.

@nomenloony has been a musician so long that every photo you take of him ends up looking like an album cover.

Does anyone recognise this lichen?
Save me looking it up.

Last night of the socially distanced shenanigans. @nomenloony Clare and Paul @strangefishband . Rare photo of me in the background with my camping axe.

(Thank you Clare for taking this.)

...and then we came home.
