Los Angeles, Santa Barbara and everywhere in between have set heat records.

Fires are engulfing the state from North the South.

Maybe it's time the media started using the term "climate change." Here's me making that point TWO YEARS AGO.

Are you a journalist looking to link heat waves to climate change? @EmilyLyWilliams, @ClimateSignals and I made this handy dandy fact sheet for you.

You've got not excuse for writing articles about heat waves WITHOUT MENTIONING CLIMATE CHANGE.

Now what about wildfires? Want to write about that? I hear that generates lots of clicks.

JOURNALISTS: IF YOU WANT TO WRITE ABOUT WILDFIRES YOU NEED TO WRITE ABOUT CLIMATE CHANGE.

Here's your fact sheet.

Are you as annoyed as I am that the media rarely links the horrors we are all living through to its underlying cause — CLIMATE CHANGE!?

And in case you need a refresher at the abysmal job the media (particularly TV NEWS) is doing linking climate change to extreme events, here's a reminder of how they covered Hurricane Laura.

THEY. DIDN'T. MENTION. CLIMATE. CHANGE.

And yes I know there are some great journalists who make the connection. Who write for print media. Pretty much all of them are my friends.

So if you are reading this as a journalist: 95% odds you're not the problem. ALAS.
