Just for example, here’s H. Clinton on Kissinger: a "friend" whose counsel she has "relied on." No one should be friends with this man.

To be clear, Clinton is far from unique —Bloomberg, Albright, all sorts of Democrats have embraced the man alongside Trump and loads of Republicans.

Or take this example. Many people I admire going to this event at which Kissinger is the honorary chair.

I do accept the end of this fantastic article by Thomas Meaney: "If all the sins of the U.S. security state can be loaded onto one man... his critics can regard his foreign policy as the exception rather than the rule...

....but the enduring cult of Kissinger points to a less palatable possibility: Kissinger is us."

...points to the fact that there has never been a real reckoning in the US regarding its global actions during the Cold War, something more urgent as we slip towards a potential new cold war with China.

There was a reason much of the world joined the non-aligned movement...

...for many countries, the moral superiority of US over USSR foreign policy wasn't clear, for good reason. Indonesians, Chileans, Cambodians, Nicaraguans... the list is long....

Hopefully, if greater tension with China is inevitable, the US will embrace the pragmatism of Kissinger pursuing Detente with Russia & reject the treatment of most of the world's populations as utterly expendable --the mass murdering Kissinger planning bombing runs on Cambodia.
