I think it really depends on the fan base that your favorite thing has around. My enjoyment of RWBY is totally heightened by making content of it every year.
On the other hand, some other Fandoms from other things I like have borderline harassed me because I'm a girl, SO, lol
Sometimes the enjoyment aspect can even differ between platforms. For example, streaming Persona 5 R on Twitch was an awesome experience, to engage with people in the community critically about the 3rd semester and have them see my play for the first time. BUT-
Uploading my Persona 5 R reactions from those streams to YouTube hasn't been as nice. Especially for my video about the bad / ideal ending. Instead of having that dialogue you're able to have in a Twitch stream, people have been saying I'm an idiot for how I felt about the game
The Persona 5R 3rd semester is supposed to make you feel morally conflicted. There is a good argument for both sides. It's not black and white.
But the YouTube comment section thinks they're intellectually superior if they picked the "right choice" & suck the greyness out of it
To answer: With everything I've ever uploaded, I've had a negative experience / soured viewing. Like RWBY V4 for example, people were really rude.
But if you keep hammering them with videos, eventually you will find the people for YOUR community who vibe with you / you vibe with
I'd say to other creators who want to start, to stick it out for that reason. Because keep in mind, when you are a new face in their algorithm everyone FLOODS to see what you're all about. And the reality is, not everyone will like you. But ride it out until your people find you.
