This press conf. is wild: "I was invited today to speak about BLM... I usually have gatherings in Tujunga which I had to stop... I had an event called Open the Churches rally. BLM came and broke my cross, broke Jesus Christ...We support law and order."

one of the early speakers is Joe Collins, a republican running against Maxine Waters. also not a fan of Black Lives Matter:

There's a case to be made about ensuring that protests don't negatively impact an already profoundly impacted community. And that protesters engage those actually doing community-based work, which is the point that Kevin "Twin" Orange, a long time interventionist there makes.

But Villanueva trying to pass off the helmets, gloves, sunglasses, and protective gear protesters wore as akin to things worn by "los soldados de las epocas romanas" and evidence that there was no interest in peaceful protest is really something.

The interesting tidbit from the presser is that the deputies are not necessarily cooperating with being interviewed about Kizzee's shooting. Villanueva says he wouldn't call it a "refusal" on their part, but he's trying to interview them without having to compel them to sit down.

In sum, they have an interview done with one of the deputies but not the other.

From today's press conf. (accidentally recorded at 1.25 speed): One deputy has yet to be interviewed about the shooting of #DijonKizzee, says Villanueva, though he wouldn't necessarily categorize the delay as a refusal...

I guess that's another way to interpret that mess of a presser
