🔴 Happening now: Four-time Oscar nominee Saoirse Ronan joins host @annetdonahue for a special In Conversation With... to discuss her powerhouse performances over the past decade, and her new #TIFF20 film AMMONITE.

Saoirse Ronan became an actor out of necessity but fell in love the second she stepped on set:

"I like the discipline with the play aspect, but it wasn’t really until I got to 12—so much older—when I was doing ATONEMENT, that I told my Nan 'I want to do it forever." #TIFF20

On her film BROOKLYN:

“I think what made it overwhelming was that it was a very severe combining of two worlds. I was completely terrified. But it ended up being such a special film for me and it was an honour to be able to tell that story.” —Saoirse Ronan #TIFF20

What are the similarities between Saoirse Ronan’s BROOKLYN and LADYBIRD characters?

“With both, I was with a director who had a very personal connection to these characters and I was incredibly close and collaborative in informing who these women were.” #TIFF20

On LADY BIRD, the inspiration for @BeanieFeldstein's character came to set:

“She said to me ‘It's really quite intimidating having the real-life person here,’ and I was like ‘Yeah, I know.’ “ —Saoirse Ronan on working with Greta Gerwig on her very personal debut film. #TIFF20

"One of the things LADY BIRD made me aware of was that there is such a pressure to be yourself and be who you are and it has to be this solid thing that doesn't shift, but it always does." —Saoirse Ronan #TIFF20

On working with @RealChalamet:

"I always knew he was very special. We’ve always just felt very comfortable with one another. It really excites me how different we are and he’s someone who I want to continue to work with. I want to see how it goes when we get older." #TIFF20

"I guess the whole point is that the ammonite, the fossils, symbolises the beginning of something. It takes so much time and care and patience to find something beautiful in it and that's what these women do for each other." —Saoirse Ronan on her #TIFF20 film AMMONITE.

Saoirse Ronan on not burning out:

"I was very lucky that I got very cool and interesting jobs since I was young and I don’t need to rush into a job just to work. It's important to me not to lose the bond with my work and it has continued to be satisfying." #TIFF20

Thank you for joining us at the Saoirse Ronan In Conversation With… @annetdonahue event, to hear about the actor's powerhouse career and her #TIFF20 film AMMONITE.
