This is totally illegal just about everywhere, but they’re relying on doing this quietly so any enforcement would be too little too late.

They could do nightmare things. Want to hear one?

What if the app detected when the owner was entering a polling place. Sends them a text message saying “We see you’re voting! Make sure to vote for Trump — we’ll be checking up later!” — implying they can pierce the secrecy of the vote in a message that proves they know location

Or they could claim “Antifa has been sighted near you! Make sure to hang around and guard the polls!” — to try to create chaos and block votes in anti-Trump areas.

They could be more subtle and tell supporters to do what Trump is saying and demand poll workers call the central office to find out if their mail in ballot was counted (do NOT do this, it will slow things down and tie up lines needed for real issues; use the web site).

They could give all kinds of false information to people designed to slow things down at the polls. “Make sure the polls workers are checking IDs of the people ahead of you!” in places that don’t require ID, for example.

I’m just listing things that already happen and imagining them being pushed in a targeted way at people who are physically at the polls. And this is besides the highly illegal political advertising at a polling place.
