To all our new followers: Greetings! We hope our current & future content will benefit your path to knowledge on the Yemeni people's struggle. First of, here's a quick introductory thread explaining who we are, what we do and whom we "support" - so to speak:

The Yemen Solidarity Council, previously known as the International Solidarity Committee with Yemen, is a non-profit advocacy & consultation organisation established between western activists & Yemeni diplomats, as a way to expand global knowledge on the cause.

We work as a third-party intermediary for organisations of interest or public personas if they want to get in touch with local Yemeni authorities, we produce multimedia content to explain the viewpoint of the Yemeni majority and a lot more.

So what do we "REALLY" do? Our main purpose is to highlight the forgotten narrative of the war against Yemen. The narrative that is deliberately overlooked by the corporate press & most of the world, except for the anti-imperialist bloc: That Yemen is fighting for its survival.

Here's a crash course to help you understand the conflict better:

1. Those deemed "rebels" in the corporate press are the actual de-facto Yemeni Armed Forces & Government, formally known as the Government of National Salvation located in Sana'a.

2. Those deemed the "legitimate government" is in facto an illegitimate government that exceeded its transitional mandate and was legally - by the will of the people - overthrown in 2014 in a revolution known as "The Revolution of September 21st.

3. This so-called "legitimate government" exists solely on the backs of rag-tag Al-Qaeda militias spread throughout the country operating as underpaid mercenaries. It was also this "government" that called for Saudi intervention - contradicting the Yemeni constitution entirely.

4. The "Houthi movement" only exists as one part of National Yemeni resistance. In reality, more than 15+ independent political parties contribute to the struggle and government. As an example, current Yemeni Prime Minister Bin Habtour is affiliated with the Southern Movement.

5. The ultimate goal of those deemed "Houthi rebels" is the establishment of a democratic Yemen based on good-governance and prosperity, as outlined in the Salvation Gov reform manifesto "National Vision"

In any case, that is what we exist to shed light upon. The forgotten narrative.
