Tacoma Fire crews are arriving onscene of a church fire in the 1200 block of South 76th St. Fire attack is being initiated. Please avoid the area.
Crews are reporting that the main body of fire has been knocked down but the fire has extended into void spaces. Ladder crews are accessing and ventilating to assist the engine crews in locating the remaining fire.
This fire has been knocked down. Crews are beginning to overhaul and an investigator is enroute to determine cause. No injuries have been reported.
Update: TFD investigators have determined that the cause of this fire is suspicious and the incident has been turned over to Tacoma Police Department for further criminal investigation.
The most significant fire damage was to the fellowship hall and classroom portion of the facility.
