Brian Pallister and his hand picked head of Treasury Board, a former general counsel to Bell MTS, have been caught secretly giving direction to Manitoba Hydro which has resulted in a lucrative data services contract extension to...Bell MTS.

There are significant conflict of interest concerns here. Mr. Beauregard owned thousands of $ worth of Bell MTS shares as recently as three years ago.

Manitobans deserve to know if Mr. Beauregard continues to have any direct financial interest in Bell MTS.

The direction given from TB to Hydro was never made public, which is in direct violation of a Manitoban law requiring all Cabinet level direction to Crowns to be made public...for precisely this type of reason.

Brian Pallister is on record a couple years ago stating that Mr. Beauregard would recuse himself from any and all decision making ties to Bell MTS.

We now know that was a lie.

In addition, we now know government also directed Manitoba Hydro International to avoid participating in an upcoming RFP which will determine who manages the large publicly owned fibre optic line running into our north.

The common denominator is that government has been directly interfering in the affairs of Manitoba Hydro International, a profitable and wholly owned subsidiary of MH which reports directly to Hydro CEO Jay Grewal.

In short, they’re trying to stop them from doing business.

There may be other explanations for this, but the most likely by far is that they are preparing to privatize Manitoba Hydro International.
