Boris just said that the reason demand has gone up so hugely for tests in recent weeks is because people want to be 'released' to go about their daily lives.

No I'm not joking.

Chair: SAGE says in a normal winter 500,000 people a day will have symptoms in line with COVID - what implications for testing?

Boris just says those with symptoms should get a test.

He was also asked about schools -

PM says whole classes should not isolate until the person with suspected coronavirus tests positive.

PM is asked about a public inquiry, when it will be:

PM says there will be a 'lessons learned' inquiry. He says it wouldn't be a good use at time at the moment.

Boris: "separation of mothers from birth partners was wrong"

PM asked about removing children <11 from the rule of 6

PM says "alas this disease is increasing.. it is readily transmissible between children and adults...

... we are seeing transmission from younger to older groups"

"We are a long way off.. having LIBERATING pregnancy-style testing" - PM

(to be able to open theatre without social distancing)

PM says second national lockdown would be 'completely wrong' for the country. But that we have to 'defeat the disease' by the 'means we've set out'.

Says he sympathises with those concerned about liberties, but that we must 'beat this disease'.

PM says arts will be saved by audience and performers having a 'ticket to ride' test:

"You have a green light on your head saying 'I can't transmit it to you'"

He's also just called these "enabling" tests 'test and release'
