Complaint filed in US District Court identifies man accused of assaulting a federal court security officer with a deadly weapon as James Lee Carr

FBI says the victim reports being shot at 3 times - the security officer says he fired back as the shooter sped away

According to the FBI statement, Carr called his brother and confessed to shooting the security officer

the FBI says the family found Carr at Verde Park and took some weapons away from him. Law enforcement then arrived and detained him. This statement says Carr said he shot the security guard because "the security guard was harassing him"

FBI talked to Carr's neighbors looking for a motive. They said he seemed angry and thought he might kill himself. They speculate he has mental health issues. No mention of any "anti-police" motivation for Carr in this complaint

Statement from FBI: "On Tuesday, September 15, 2020, James Lee Carr, 68 was taken into custody without incident. Carr remains in federal custody and faces charges for assaulting a federal officer outside of the Sandra Day O’Connor U.S. Courthouse"
