This isn’t problem solving, @RepMaxRose. And don’t use helping the most vulnerable to undermine the Speaker & legitimize Republicans who’ve constantly voted against poor & low-income people. Listen to poor & low wealth people.
If Black people are suffering the most, why don’t you ask the Black Caucus what’s needed? Or the Indigenous Caucus? The bill the House passed was already a compromise. Poor & low income people need more!
What about those who care about the 140 million poor & low wealth people in this country, even before COVID? The fact that you served in the military doesn’t make you right. Come talk to the veterans in our movement who want the HEROES bill & more.
And don’t say we don’t have the money. You & others gave 83% of the first relief bills to banks & corporations. By compromising with extremist GOP who always stay united, you aren’t problem solving. You’re enabling the problem.
It’s time to care about the American people more than the polls in your swing district.
You're right about one thing: we really don’t need a skinny bill. We need a just bill & if there was unity in message, mobilization & moving ppl to the polls, you could even move McConnell.
I’m glad there wasn’t a “Problem Solving” Caucus during slavery. Y’all might have negotiated a long weekend off for the slaves rather than the 13th amendment.
