1/ Private enterprises create one new job where five are required. Government enterprises create jobs based on a much more realistic requirement to service its clients.
With privatization, one expects less number of people doing more work using better automated processes.
But
2/ for a country like India, automation is counter productive as it removes jobs. We need jobs at least till 2050 when the population stabilizes and starts to fall. After that we can go for more automation.
Automation itself too creates jobs but the numbers are far and few.
3/ Currently we need to have 100% employment, which is not going to be possible given the push for privatization.
Narendra Modi promised to create 20 Million jobs every year of his tenure. It has now been six years but instead of creating any jobs, there has been massive loss
4/ of jobs. In the last six months itself, as per CMIE, 20 Million jobs have been lost in the organized sector itself.
Today the youth are up in arms and are observing Unemployment Day to coincide with the birthday of Narendra Modi, who they now see and recognize as the biggest
5/ destroyer of jobs and the economy.
And Narendra Modi or his government of BJP has no clue as to how to counter this claim. Therefore it is trying to divert the attention of the nation through its paid media channels and social media outreach.
There are still no alarm bells
6/ ringing in the country about this joblessness but the tipping point may be closer than anyone can anticipate. One friend told me that a war is being planned. The tentative date being discussed is 3rd November, when India will engage China along with US to destroy the Chinese
7/ domination over the world. It seems security forces have been briefed about this or that is what my friend is telling me.
With this government, that invests more in defense purchases, anything is possible. The need for patriotic fervor is more today as the government has
8/ failed on all other fronts.
I just wonder how will they fight a war while maintaining social distancing?
