From the new report:
- Among the 445 births during the study, 12.6% of were preterm deliveries
- That's more than 25% higher than the rate of preterm delivery for the general U.S. population
10 of the 445 COVID-19 patients also experienced either a miscarriage or a stillbirth, but the report noted that the it "likely underestimates the percentage of pregnancy losses that occur among women with COVID-19."
The report also confirmed that pregnant patients were susceptible to more severe COVID-19 symptoms:
Of patients with symptoms:
- 16.2% of cases were severe enough to need treatment in an intensive care unit
- 8.5% required ventilators
- 2 died
There's limited information on the coronavirus in general, but extremely limited info on how the virus impacts pregnancy, making this report particularly notable.
