“Mr. Torees took his students to the dolphin show. Each row in the stadium had 11 seats. One adult sat at each end of a row, and each group of 4 students was seated between 2 adults. Mr. Torres sat by himself. How many adults were there?

Mr. Torres has 24 students. If there are 4 students in rach row, he will need 6 rows.

“There are 8 rows of 22 chairs set up for an awards ceremony at school. In each row, the 2 chairs on each end are reserved for students receiving awards. The rest of the chairs are for guests. How many chairs are for guests?”
8 rows of 22
8x22 = 176
2 chairs on each end are reserved.
8x2 = 16
176-16 = 160
160 chairs are for guests.
Okay 1 more.
“Brenda’s vegtable garden has 13 rows with 8 plants in each row. Brenda plans to plant peppers in the first 2 rows AND the last 2 rows of the garden. The rest of the rows will be tomatoes. How many tomato plants will Brenda plant?”
13 rows with 8 plants in each row.
13 x 8 = 104
4 rows of pepper plants
4 x 8 = 32
104 - 32 = 72
Brenda will plant 72 tomato plants. And we know this is true cause 9 rows were left. And 9 x 8 is what?

Oh, no we didn’t. We orig said 160. But we corrected our mistake to 144. And that *is* correct.
