Per @LASDHQ today, not only did both deputies see #DijonKizzee bend over & pick up the gun, but the 2nd deputy was said to have been staring down the barrel of the gun. At ~25 secs in, however, you see the gun hit the ground near the pole/truck back end.
The second deputy does not begin to fire his weapon til approximately 27 seconds in. For reference, the gun can be spotted here at the bottom of the frame...in the same place it is seen landing in the video. [the other two arrows point to his clothing] #DijonKizzee
This was the account the sheriff put on their website today.

During the press conference, Captain Kent Wegener was even more graphic, describing in great detail how it had all gone down. The deputy he is referring to is the one that squeezes between the cars to join the first.
I know this is incredibly hard to see, but if you watch the video in very slow motion, you can see the gun skitter on the ground. In this first photo, it is still in the air or in his hand but going to land in the blue box. The 2nd deputy is just coming around the car.
Here the gun has landed on the ground and flashes through the fence as a black spot for a moment at around 25 seconds (replay it enough times and you can see it). The 2nd deputy hasn't even drawn his weapon yet.
Together, they go on to fire 19 shots. This version fits the shots captured here on the doorbell cam... there is a burst of a handful of shots first, then the second deputy joins in.
The press conference from today was itself an exercise in demonizing a community. See some of the lowlights here. We'll have a story tomorrow.
