1/ I have some thoughts on #Trumps unveiling of the 1776 Project last night. The President said “We want our sons and daughters to know that they are the citizens of the most exceptional nation in the history of the world.”

What I believe that President Trump gets incorrect is the difference between aspirational goals and the lived out reality. You can say that America is an exceptional nation but the lived reality for Black Brown and First Nations people is quite different.
3/ It is truly disingenuous to say that those who offer a more detailed critique of our nations history are anti-American antagonists or unpatriotic. Who has the right to critique us? Nobody? Or those who the President claims are a part of this great and free nation
4/ What truly is diving this nation is NOt the accurate telling of history such as in the 1619 project, it is the propaganda that seeks to vilify half of American citizens who identify themselves as something other that “Trump-fanatics.”
5/ To argue that a whole party is unamerican because you disagree with their politics is what happens in authoritarian countries.
6/ As a Christian, I am constantly seeking truth, even if that truth requires me to confess and repent of my own compliticity in sins against God and my fellow man
7/ John 3 tells us that believers are willing to come into the light because we are covered by the one who forgave all of our sins. Anyone who is a follower of Christ should never be afraid to seek truth and justice.
8/ Because President Trump has professed to be a follower of Christ, I implore him to seek truth and not hide in darkness.
Just my thoughts as a humble truth-teller and disciple of Christ
We must also consider how a gospel of Christian nationalism rather than the Lordship of Jesus Christ has caused many evangelicals to celebrate this nostalgic view of America as the greatest.
From a Biblical and eschatological view, to be honest, America is really not that special. Not mentioned. Not alluded to. We must return to the idea of a worldwide gospel that doesn’t center or idolize nationalistic pride.
Alright I add a few more pennies to my two cents. I’m done. Love to know your thoughts.
