@Hadithoftheday Dawood A.S.
Allah says in Qur'an:
So they defeated them by permission of Allah, and Dawood killed Jalut, and Allah gave him the kingship and prophethood and taught him from that which He willed. (Al Qur’an 2:251)
@Hadithoftheday When The Israelites and Jaloot went to war with each other. Prophet Dawood A.S was very young at the time and not well known.
His father had sent him with the troops not to fight but to come back and tell his father how everyone was doing.
@Hadithoftheday When he saw that Jaloot was very brave and courageous and the Israelites were very fearful of him and not willing to fight him, Prophet Dawood A.S decided to step into the fighting and counter jaloot.
@Hadithoftheday As Prophet Dawood A.S was very young,Jaloot did not pay him much attention,but when Prophet Dawood A.S started fighting him Jaloot realized how strong he was.
Dawood killed Jaloot in the fighting which resulted in him becoming very popular for his courage amongst the Israelites
@Hadithoftheday The Israelites loved Dawood A. S very much after incident of Jaloot. Prophet Dawood A.S was the first person to have been a prophet and a king at the same time, therefore Prophet Dawood was appointed to look after the spiritual, social, and economical matters of the Israelites.
@Hadithoftheday Dawood A.S, previously an unknown young lad, became famous overnight
The lands of Bani Israel, previously confiscated by the tyrant ruler,was restored to them,& their status of abject humiliation was lifted.Allah then chose Dawood A.S to be the king of his people to succeed Talut
@Hadithoftheday This was the first time that prophethood and kinghood came together in one individual.
Dawood A.S possessed plenty of magnificent characteristics.
As a ruler and a judge, he was extremely just to his subjects.
@Hadithoftheday Despite his mighty kingdom, he was always accessible to the general public who wanted him to preside and judge over their personal grievances.
Allah granted him the wisdom and intelligence to issue judgments which were fair and insightful.
@Hadithoftheday He was courageous, and Allah strengthened his kingdom, and bestowed upon him wisdom and sound judgment.
Dawood A.S was also granted the scriptures in the forms of the Zabur (the Psalms).
@Hadithoftheday By the power of Allah, iron became malleable in the hands of Dawood A.S, and he could shape this metal without the need for a kiln or a hammer. He was also the first to know the skills of making armour from iron – a knowledge that was taught to him by Allah.
@Hadithoftheday The most outstanding ability of Dawood A.S which was unique to him was his golden voice. Whenever he sang from the Zabur or in glorification of Allah, his melodious voice resonated though the air and the birds would stop in the air to join his singing +
@Hadithoftheday And Even mountains would join in praising and glorifying Allah every morning and evening.
Allah says in Qur'an:
We subjected the mountains [to praise] with him, exalting [Allah] in the [late] afternoon and [after] sunrise. (38:17) +
@Hadithoftheday And the birds were assembled, all with him repeating [praises]. And We strengthened his kingdom and gave him wisdom and discernment in speech. (Al Qur’an 38:18-20)
@Hadithoftheday Despite his kingship, Dawood A.S led a humble life. He only ate from what he earned with his own hands, in that he never helped himself to the state coffers for his personal benefit.
He constantly glorified Allah at all times, always remaining thankful & humble to his Lord.
@Hadithoftheday Rasulullah ﷺ said: “The best prayer to Allah is the prayer of Dawood, & the best fasting to Allah is the fasting of Dawood; he slept for the first half, then woke up for one-third of the night and prayed, and then he slept for the rest of the one-sixth. ++
@Hadithoftheday He fasted with the gap of one day, and whenever he met his enemy, he never backed off.” (Bukhari & Muslim).
@Hadithoftheday Lessons :
Dawood A.S was extremely wealthy, but that did not prevent him from fasting every other day, or worshipping Allah devoutly every night.
Despite being a king, he remained humble, earned his own keep, and spent his assets on aiding the poor and the needy.
