White Fragility lesson of the day, straight from the book: 🧠🧑🎓
Q. You disagree with a coworker during a meeting. She says disagreeing with her is racist. 😮What do you do? 🤔
A. Listen. Admit racism. Apologize. Stop disagreeing with her. 🧎
[@DouglasKMurray #JoanRivers]
Q. You wear a white shirt to work. Your coworker says that’s racist. 😡What do you do?😮
A. Listen. Admit racism. Apologize. Change your shirt.
🧎
Q. A coworker demands you shine her shoes. 👠 She says not shining them is racist. 😡 What do you do? 😮
A. Listen. Concede racism. Apologize. Shine her shoes. 🧎
DiAngelo explains all this in White Fragility, particularly pages 103,119&142. No, this is not infantilizing to POC. As @DouglasKMurray says, “If I can’t disagree with you, you’re not my equal.” Disagreement not allowed [p142]. Intentions don't matter [p103].
If I'm not being fair and true to the tenets of the original text, please let me know. But I think @jondavidchurch and @HPluckrose @ConceptualJames would back me up here. I'm open to disagreement.
