When the government is saying it has freed the farmer to sell to anyone at any price, what it is essentially saying is that although it will still announce the MSP, it will not be under any obligation to buy anything other than what it wants.

Essentially what that means is citing shortage of storage spaces and over flowing storage silos of FCI, government may not buy anything.

This will leave the farmers in the lurch. That is why they have hit the road.

All the farmers want is that government announce an MSP and then buy 100% of their produce at a plus/minus 10% of that price. They are completely comfortable with that. What the government can do is implement this and then let the Adani's and Ambani's

and the Amazon's and the Star Baazar's buy from them. Many cooperatives like NAFED were started with this intention but most of them have failed to serve this purpose.

Now with the deep pockets these big industrialists have and the removal of cap on holding stocks, these

industrialists will have buying leverage over the farmers and may initially buy from the farmers at a better rate but then form a cartel and buy only at rates that suit them. As they will then have a start to end logistic chain, they can buy cheap and sell expensive and because

of the cartel offer their products at almost the same price to each other.

What that will do is to make the products expensive for the buyer and give them windfall profits. Part of these profits can then be converted into

opaque Electoral Bonds and be given to party's like BJP to allow them to buy votes during elections and if unsuccessful buy MLA's / MP's later.
