1. The "Our Care Our Say" team is a mix of care experienced & non care experience friends, joined together by a shared belief that any care review must have the views of the care experienced community of all ages & in all its diversity at the centre."Nothing about us without us">
2. One of our team is Alison O'Sullivan @aosullivan01, retired social worker & distinguished past president of the Association of Directors of Children's Services. Alison shared why she supports the #OCOS aims to get care experienced people heard at the forthcoming Care Review>
3. Alison said -
"I believe it’s vitally important that the views of care experience people of all ages shape the care review from the outset. Over many years as a social worker and leading local authority services I valued the perspectives of people with lived experience...>
4. I valued their views because that 1st hand knowledge helped us to do what really worked. My engagement with the @careexpconf conference convinced me that there's a huge well of wisdom & experience which must be drawn upon to shape how children in care are supported in future">
5. Alison concluded that - "The @careexpconf conference also proved that you only have to ask people to help for them to step forward in legions. It’s essential that we find a way to make this happen for us to stand a chance of making things work better."
6. We'll try to bring you the thoughts of other members of the #OCOS team in coming days as we finalise our arrangements to reach the care experienced community. In the meantime, please be like Alison & support "Our Care Our Say" in our bid to get care experienced people heard.
