Last night, I expressed the view that we are locked in a civil war with progressive extremism. Tonight, I apologize for being so soft in my characterization of this matter. It is more than a civil war; it is a fight for the future of America.

Representation v individual rights?
Anarchy v rule of law?
Equity v equality?
Identity politics v focus on the individual?

Am I exaggerating the threat or is a real challenge to our future?

If one were to take a sneak peak at my Twitter feed over the past four months, a remarkable conclusion could be reached, and it is this: Yes, Prop 16 is about fairness & equality in college admissions, public employment & public contracting, but an even more important phenomenon

is revealed. Americans of every color, “race,” sex, ethnicity and national origin, can be and are united in a common purpose, and that is to keep advancing to form that more perfect union. Complete strangers from Chicago, New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Springville and

locations too numerous to mention, people that you couldn’t identify in a lineup, liberal Democrats, conservative Republicans, Libertarians, even two individuals who were bitter opponents 24 years ago, come together for a common purpose: to defeat a measure that they consider

inimical to the best interest of the country that they love. They occasionally crack corny jokes, they argue politely, then underscore their mutual respect, and return to the arena with renewed passion. They teach an extraordinarily valuable lesson about the importance of ideals,

especially that of equality. For a nation such as America, beset with riots, protests, and inflamed passions about race, these people set an example of what a “community” can and should be. Their example should convince one and all that dividing people on the basis of skin or

where their ancestors originated is not good for America and its people and would be an everlasting stain on the Great State of California. Please join me and and VOTE NO ON PROP 16.
