also so many second and third pen pal matches i hear are being made in the DMs...people finding other people through the tag and sending them a tentative note like "can we be pen pals?" big first day of summer camp trying to make a new friend energy! here for it!
also a note: elfster has a "mark gift as sent" option (here the "gift" is a letter...nothing else required!). If you check that when you send your first letter, your person knows to expect something and then can follow up if the postal service loses the letter....not uncommon
