A false allegation made against NRIs like me is that if we really loved our roots, how come we are not living in India? How come we gave up our citizenships & adopted foreign lands.🤠
The aim of this statement is to delegitimize our

claims to our roots. Honestly, it's cruel.🥺
Two kinds of people do this:
a. Fellow Dindu / Abrahamic NRIs who envy our unabashed love for our culture & traditions. It pricks at their low self-esteem issues which urge them to be more like their white counterparts - at which

they fail spectacularly; obviously, 'cuz they ain't white. LOL.🤦♀️
b. Indians who had aspirations to immigrate but couldn't due to a whole host of reasons. It pricks at their perceived inabilities / shortcomings. So the green monster of jealousy rears its ugly head.🙄

So to a) and b), here's my response: distance doesn't matter. Just because I don't live in India & just because I love the US doesn't minimize my love for my roots. You don't stop loving your parents as soon as you leave home.😃 (At least I hope you don't!) It's the same.

To a) - my emphatic embracing of my roots shouldn't prick you; instead, it should inspire you to be more authentic.👆 Shed the heavy cloak of colonialism. There's no master to be served. Remember - Aham Brahmasmi.🙏

To b) - it's OK. We are all connected. We care. Let's just put aside our geographical differences and work toward Dharma. My claim to my mother is as valid as yours. What you presume to be a condescending attitude on my behalf may just be a reflection of your insecurities.😬

Do not negate my love. Do not be jealous. Geographical limitations are imposed by narrow minds.
