We live in a time of metaphors.
Most of them describing in one detail or another just who we are.
I wonder if we don't like the picture, and choose politicians who will lie to us and tell us just how great we are. Especially if we do what they want.
They will, they promise with lies, take the burden of
responsibility for the inflicting death and destruction upon themselves. Absolving us from culpability.
But, of course, you cannot wash away the stain.

If we wake up in time
There will be all sorts of anguish, and wailing of the lament of the unwilling to know:
"Who could have possibly have known?"
And the cold answer will be... You. Us.
