An accused of Gangster Act died while four persons, including two policemen, suffered injuries when the car they were travelling to Lucknow from Mumbai met with an accident at National Highway-46 in Guna district of Madhya Pradesh on Sunday.
A police team of Lucknow's Thakurganj police, consisting of sub-inspectors Jagdish Pandey and Rajeev Singh, was bringing Firoz from Mumbai after raiding his house in Nallasopara area.
He was booked under Gangster Act at Thakurganj police station in 2018 after being accused in more than 10 cases of dacoity and loot. In 2019, a local court had issued a non-bailable warrant against him. The Thakurganj team was sent to Mumbai after been tipped about Firoz.
The police team raided Firoz's house on Saturday and were on the way back to Lucknow when the accident took place. “When they reached Chachoda police station in Guna, the car hit a blue bull, overturned and went off the main road,” said Lucknow police commissioner, Sujeet Pandey.
Pandey further said that in the accident accused Firoz died while four others including the above named policemen, deceased’s relative Afzal and the car driver suffered injuries. They have been admitted to a private hospital in Raigarh locality near the accident site
