Things to consider on this story
1) LGBTQNation didn't speak to Redmayne just lifted text from trans hostile Daily Mail.
2) He's previously called out Rowling
3) He's tried to make amends for Danish Girl, including leading acting workshops for trans youth

I'm not saying he's perfect, far from it, but there is a repeated pattern of UK right wing press asking all interviewees about their views on 'Trans issues of the day' & then leveraging that for a story. This is used to weaponise against existing & potential trans allies.
Something similar happened to Hillary Clinton, where a badly worded comment from Clinton, unprepared for the pointed questions of a trans hostile interviewer for a British Newspaper, becomes an international news story about Clinton's transphobia.
Things to take away. If you are a trans ally speaking to a British newspaper, expect to receive multiple questions on trans people, their rights, the difference between sex & gender, your views on toilets - much in the style of USA evangelical backed campus sound bite reporters.
I'm a cis man defending a cis man here, the optics aren't great, however I believe Redmayne to be someone of decency. It may be hard for outsiders to grasp quite how far the UK press is pushing a trans hostile agenda. As part of that, they are targeting transgender allies.
