During the COVID-19 update this afternoon, Health Minister Shandro responded to a question about EMS dispatch. He says he hasn't seen evidence from AHS that service would be negatively affected. If he did, he would be against the change.

This is somewhat confusing, as today Nenshi said that AHS had not provided him or other mayors with any conclusive evidence that the centralization would improve service, and municipalities are showing how it would be worsened.

Shandro also said that there are two reasons supporting the decision: AHS is seamless and they can see where all ambulances are throughout Alberta. Secondly, they can integrate oversight over dispatch. Reeve Oel specifically said today one issue they have is a *lack* of oversight

On the meeting with mayors last week, Shandro said they will review what was presented to them before a final decision is made, though he seems to sort of dismiss the many concerns heard today and in past weeks.

A final comment from Mayor @nenshi on the issue.
