Why this constant motte-and-bailey switcheroo between some Platonic notion of ‘do masks help?’ pursued as an intellectual exercise purely for the love of knowledge, and the *actual experience* of Dumbass Mask Mandates, as they affect actual people
Hooray, yet another snide remark from a Smart Person who ‘doesn’t understand’ anti-mask POV, concedes in-passing (as if this is minor!) that some mask policies are Actually Dumb, as my elementary school age kid is forced to wear a ‘mask’ while running around a soccer field
The local blue state ‘progressive’ fretful helicopter-mothers don’t understand all the finely-tuned journal-informed nuances of Bret Weinstein’s optimal mask policy
All they hear is ‘MASKS WORK!!’ so they force Kids Soccer (and Baseball, and..etc) League to impose them
Worse, because this mask thing is now a Stance that such people have felt the need to Take, it’s a barrier to things like opening schools, because people now think/assume a need to have 5 year olds wear a mask in the classroom for 6+ hours as if that does anything
Typical Teacher: ‘We just can’t open schools now. Do you know how hard it is to get a room full of kindergarteners to keep masks on all day’
um why even try to do that, that’s silly, if they’re in that room for hours exposure is pretty certain

lemme get this straight. it’d be ok to be in the room w/kids for hours if they have flimsy blue paper ‘masks’ as long as you could be sure they’d 100% keep them on. It’s just the fact they (admittedly) won’t that bothers you
‘Yes. Masks work. Smart People said so, it’s Science’
the way this mentality has been promulgated by our Expert Class of Smart People, and from there permeated into the brains of normies, has created a situation where we basically can never resume normal life, ever. Not because of 'Science' but because of psychology and delusion.
I'm just saying, maybe Smart People should try to be a little more conscious of that when they say and advocate stuff. Oh who am I kidding
