KD was predictable and slightly too long for a stump, MKK was succinct and to the point, BTK straight up oppositional to all but visibly reading his stump #Decision2020 #thehui #maoripol
I understand that candidates must demonstrate their connection to the people they are seeking to represent, but it’s off putting hearing them centring themselves in their stories / replies #thehui #Decision2020 #maoripol
BTK stumbles a lot in his replies and while at times he speaks eloquently, that little dig about “working hard” to buy his first house clear lack of understanding about housing crisis today 😬 #thehui #Decision2020 #maoripol
KD: stop dumping crap into sea, air, etc stop overcomplicating climate change #thehui #Decision2020
There’s so much going on in this debate that my fingers can’t type with all the brain swirling!
by that I mean the constant contradictions in thought by KD and BTK, I’m baffled.
I’m not ignoring MKK, who speaks well but nothing standout to tweet about yet 😬 Like, no one is winning this debate 🤔 #thehui #Decision2020 #maoripol
It’s possible that BTK could pull more votes than we expect but c certainly not enough to win, will simply split the non-Labour candidate vote, meaning KD is pretty safe. #thehui #Decision2020
Oooh great question from Huhana Lyndon ✊🏼✊🏼 NGĀPUHI NUI TONU #thehui #decision20
Why is BTK even standing in Taitokerau???? He’s not even from there and lives in Tāmaki 😒
There we go “allowing” as a framing is basically internalising the colonisers narrative ✊🏼 - re-phrasing MKK #thehui #decision20
KD would not support a relativity clause for Ngapuhi in a settlement 😒 #thehui #decision20
no one really answered the question on Stage 1 implementation of WT report on sovereignty. Disappointing is an understatement. #thehui #decision20
The immigration question - whether it’s a reduction or a rahui - the surrounding narrative from the candidates is hugely problematic - merit, us first etc is othering and racist #thehui #decision20
So they all want the “document” to be returned to Taitokerau, but won’t confidently and clearly answer the sovereignty implementation question 🤷🏻♀️ #thehui #decision20 - in fairness, I didn’t quite catch MKKs response and haven’t read the mana motuhake policy yet
In conclusion, no one really stood out as winning, unusual and a missed opportunity. It was also the first time, Ive noticed all candidates had notes, which might be part of the issue? In my experience, notes lead you to trying to get out talking points rather than answering q’s.
Any who my inner matakite must have been playing with me because I poured a lemonade instead of a kapu tī for that one 😳
