Former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn lied to the FBI. He plead guilty to this offense twice.
Atty General Bill Barr committed an impeachable act (Obstruction of Justice) by ordering the DOJ to drop the charges against Flynn.
Judge Sullivan is perplexed.
Judge Sullivan phoned a friend and asked whether or not he has a say in whether the charges are dismissed. His friend said yes. Some on the court said no, then the whole district court ruled, yes. After a long process, we’re waiting for the 11am hearing.
But last night...
The attorney for FBI agent Peter Strzok (the agent Flynn lied to) released documents that are alleged to be manipulated by the department of justice to aid Michael Flynn. 👀. Judges tend to not like that sort of thing. The penalty for tampering with evidence is 20 years.
Why would the DOJ lawyers or others, risk their careers and a 20 year prison sentence to tamper with evidence to protect Michael Flynn? And why do it on the eve of the hearing where Judge Sullivan could theoretically grant your wish and dismiss the case?
Another very important point to remember is this: Flynn has yet to be charged with the underlying crimes that prompted him to lie in the first place.
