New NYT Trump tax report highlights Qs around his financing in 2011, when Apprentice & licensing $ began to dry up. But Trump was repeatedly asking a foreign bank for funding as early as *2008* when those $ streams were rising. My analysis for @TheScotsman scotsman.com/news/politics/…

The NYT's superb infographic lays out the ebb and flow of Trump's finances. What's clear is that in 2008, his income from Trump Org, Apprentice, licensing etc were all v buoyant: nytimes.com/interactive/20…

Which begs the Q why Trump, having met two Scottish bankers at Trump Tower, wrote to the Bank of Scotland repeatedly asking it for financing. Sometimes it was as high as £38m, sometimes s low as £9m. Either way, these are modest sums for someone of Trump's claimed wealth.

Remember that the Trump tax returns - prepared by his lawyers - tell only part of the story. They are no reliable indicator of his wealth or solvency. As much as they provide some revelatory answers, they also pose some searching questions. All of them about Trump's $$$.

If you have a tip off about the Trump Org's biz, especially in Scotland, my DMs are open / encrypted email is martynmcl@protonmail.com. You can also read some of my previous Trump stories on my online portfolio: martynmclaughlin.com
