❄️ Please help us spread the word. ❄️

Winter is coming and the current moratorium on utility shutoffs will be ending. Here's what you need to know to if you are struggling to pay your bills.

🚨 If you are struggling, get in touch with your utility ASAP. Ask about:

▪️ Payment plans with shutoff protection
▪️ Low-income rates
▪️ Arrearage management programs (AMP)
▪️ The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)

Customers who heat their homes with home heating oil and are struggling to pay their bills may be eligible for federal assistance through LIHEAP. Resources and eligibility information are available here: bit.ly/liheap-ago

You can also do the following:

▪️ Contact @MassSave for an energy efficiency audit
▪️ Check to see if you are receiving electricity from a competitive electric supplier (they frequently overcharge)
▪️ Contact your local Community Action Network ⤵️

Finally, my office is providing $569,000 in grants that can help lower your natural gas bills. Interested municipalities, state agencies, and nonprofits can learn more and apply by October 16 here. ⤵️

The current moratorium on utility shutoffs for residents ends on November 15. It ended on August 31 for businesses. After November 15, some residents may still be protected for shutoffs under the traditional winter heating moratorium. For more info, visit: bit.ly/shutoffs-ago
