Leaving Cert error affected 7,200 grades.

"Dept staff found a further error in the code. The results of CSPE were meant to be discarded in the system - they weren't... As a result, >6,000 students received a grade one grade lower than they should have done."
Minister Foley says some students received a higher grade than they should. They will not be affected.
"Their grades stand."
Students will be informed by text if they have been affected.

"It will be distressing for students who thought this chapter was complete... I want to apologise to our LC students for the situation we are in and for the upset it has caused."
The Dept of Further and Higher Education will work with institutions "to see" how students will be able to take part in courses they should have been offered.
"Students have had an exceptionally difficult year... They don't need this upset and dismay. I really do appreciate that." Foley.
Work will finish in the coming days. We will not have final numbers until workstreams are finished.
