Grassroots environmental justice groups often have to struggle for funding and attention, even as they’re representing the communities most overburdened by environmental issues. It’s important these groups get the credit.

While we’re honored to contribute to the fight for environmental justice, we wanted to take this moment to shine a light on some additional organizations that are doing the critical, community-focused work of environmental justice.

The National Black Environmental Justice Network - @nbejn1 - has been fighting for justice for more than two decades and has developed a powerful policy platform to lift up communities of color: nbejn.com

The Environmental Justice Health Alliance - @StopToxics - is a network of diverse grassroots groups across the country focusing on challenging the dangerous impacts of the chemical industry on communities: ej4all.org

Texas Environmental Justice Advocacy Services, T.E.J.A.S. - @tejasbarrios - is dedicated to creating sustainable, environmentally healthy communities w/ the guiding principle that everyone, regardless of race or income, is entitled to a clean environment: tejasbarrios.org

RISE St. James is a community organization in Louisiana fighting for community, children, and health. Currently they’re fighting against a proposed plastic factory in “cancer alley”: stopformosa.org

Clean Power Lake County - @CleanPowerLC - is an Illinois community-driven coalition committed to local action to secure environmental, economic & racial justice. It is supported by several partners, including environmental, faith & public health orgs: cleanpowerlakecounty.org
