Few things are more satisfying than making *good* coffee at home first thing in the morning

French Press, Aeropress, pourover, Chemex, you name it, pretty much every brewing method can lead to excellent coffee if you do it properly

I have a small little Nespresso machine (~$60 bucks) and it gets occasional use when I'm really in a rush

But most of my coffee making is either Aeropress (for a single cup) or french press (for 2-3 cups)

One of the few methods that *cannot* make good coffee is a Keurig

I have tried Turkish coffee at a nice restaurant here in the state, but wasn't impressed with the results

That said even *very* nice restaurants routinely screw up coffee service

Starbucks is garbage and everyone should stop drinking it, if you need to-go coffee go to McDonald's, it's way better and way cheaper

Cold brew is fine, I make it occasionally and it's the only thing I'll get at Starbucks/Peet's because it's basically impossible to screw up

That said I've never had a cold brew that blows me away

Perfect time to gear up and start making coffee at home

Total equipment cost is anywhere from $150-200, good beans cost anywhere from $12-25 a bag, and once you learn Aeropress you can make great coffee in 5 minutes start-to-finish

Stumptown is available at basically everywhere (think Safeway), that's a good starting point

I have a Blue Bottle subscription that I really like

Pour-over is not my favorite because it actually requires some technique and attention

Aeropress/french press are just easier, they are basically set-and-forget methods

Thoughts and prayers, though in your shoes I'd invest in an electric kettle with temp control

Aeropress is an immersion method like french press (where the hot water and grounds sit together for a while), but it's faster and it's incredibly easy and quick to clean

Easily my favorite method for a single cup, delicious/hard to screw up

They do not and that's where a French Press comes in
