Stephen Miller, the driving force behind many of the administration’s anti-immigrant policies, worked to establish a new office within ICE called the Victims of Immigration and Crime Engagement Office, which publicizes crimes committed by immigrants.

We obtained calendars from VOICE Director Barbara Gonzalez that show her in contact with anti-immigrant groups & ICE Senior Adviser Jon Feere, who worked with Miller to amplify what he called “potentially-helpful storylines” of crimes linked to immigrants.

We also obtained documents that show extensive evidence of Stephen Miller and DOJ official Gene Hamilton (former counselor to Jeff Sessions) using DOJ’s press shop to push anti-immigrant propaganda.

For example, in March 2018, Miller praised Hamilton for a new weekly round-up of “Opioid, Immigration, and Violent Crime” press releases published by DOJ’s Office of Public Affairs.
“Excellent,” wrote Miller.
On April 17, 2018, Miller thanked Hamilton for a press release on the denaturalization of a child sex abuser.
