Even with the digital caveats that were obvious beforehand, the new Adventure of Dai anime is pretty nice! The intro itself already sold me on it: using Shida's fluid 2DFX as transitions is a cool trick, I love the shot where they morph into a falling tear
The animation in general is nice as expected - hopefully the large production buffer will keep it stable in the long term too. Very articulate movement during some bits of the fight in the ship, plenty of secondary motion that would often be abridged in TV projects
Framing and perspective nail that feeling of chaotic fighting in an unstable ship, through exaggeration rather than realism
Big fan of the layouts during the King Slime sequence too, they're the reason the gag works. Always informing the audience faster than the cocky dumbasses
It would be unreasonable to expect Studio Pablo's background art to have the level of intricacy of their best works considering this is a long-running series with a sprawling setting, but it's still a beautiful realization of the world that can look damn nice in special sequences
