1) Today @calm raised a series C at a $2B valuation.

Although I only recently joined the company as a PM, I've been a Calm meditator since 2016 πŸ§˜πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

These are the reasons I've chosen Calm over any other meditation/wellness app from the POV of a user πŸ‘‡

2) Back when I worked on DoorDash's growth team, we used @Amplitude_HQ for product analytics.

Calm was always referenced on customer calls as the gold standard implementation. Their exps were always featured in presos.

They've built a data/user-driven culture from day 1.

3) Unlike Headspace's illustration centric design, Calm's design is based in nature 🌲

Ecopsychology is an emerging field that touts nature's healing role in our mental health. Forest bathing is an actual therapy in Japan.

my mind subconsciously feels calmer in the Calm app.

4) As I graduated from guided meditation to silent meditation, Sleep stories locked me into a new use case.

Like @sarahtavel said, meditation is aspirational, sleep is foundational.

P.S. my go-tos are "Into the Library" and "Drifting off w/ Gratitude" 😴

5) Calm's relaxing branding and marketing wit has always resonated with me.

Case in point: key presidential alerts sponsored by Calm on CNN πŸ‘‡

If Calm was named "Meditation" or "Mindspace" i'm not sure it would have had the same impact.

6) The quality of the audio is top notch.

This is not surprising considering Calm partners with creatives like Diplo, Mandy Moore, Above & Beyond, Kate Winslet, & LeBron (yes, an aritst in his own right).

There are also FT audio engineers and sound designers on staff 🎢

7) Calm has balanced expanding horizontally, vertically, and internationally πŸš€

vertical: mood check-ins, 100s of diff meditations

horizontal: body, kids, personal development, and focus music.

Intl: supports English, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish.

8) Variable Reward Principle - People enjoy rewards, especially unexpected ones ✨

The Daily Calm features a new 10-min meditation every single day, 365 days a year.

It provides an element of surprise that is akin to the delight you get when opening a social feed.

9) people love the Daily Calm meditation so much that there is a Facebook group with 75.6K members, who discuss the featured meditation daily.

The community has quickly evolved into a book club, meditation support group, and place for social accountability.

10) these are just some of top reasons why I β™₯️ the Calm app and believe immensely in the mission and impact of the company.

If you're interested in getting started with meditation my book recommendations are below. I'm happy to also give advice via DM: patriciamou.com/wellness-wisdo…
