THREAD: Every death from Covid-19 is a tragedy—all 340,000 Americans so far—but it's hard to ignore that the Republican Party has become a literal death cult, all to assuage Trump's ego. Every state and federal elected official to die so far from Covid-19 is a Republican....

According to @ballotpedia, Republican Congressman-Elect Letlow is the first congressional member or member-elect to die from Covid-19, but there have been numerous state legislators to die too, all Republican....

GOP Rep. Reggie Bagala, of the Louisiana House of Representatives, died in April too: ballotpedia.org/Reggie_Bagala

Republican Sen. Jerry Relph, of the Minnesota State Senate, died earlier this month: ballotpedia.org/Jerry_Relph

New Hampshire state Rep. Dick Hinch, also a Republican, died in December one week after being sworn in as speaker of the state House of Representatives: ballotpedia.org/Dick_Hinch

Republican Rep. Roy Edwards, of the Wyoming House of Representatives, died just hours before Election Day. ballotpedia.org/Roy_Edwards

It's incredible to me that the Republican Party *still* refuses to take this threat seriously for themselves or their fellow citizens. It is literally killing them and they continue to ignore or downplay it to "stick it to the libs" and protect Donald Trump's fragile ego.

And *another* GOP state elected official has died of Covid-19. Every single state and federal elected official who has been killed by Covid is a Republican. And yet they ignore the pandemic to avoid hurting Trump’s feelings. wric.com/news/virginia-…

And another GOP elected official, a Pennsylvania state senator, has died, possibly of Covid complications. Covid is killing the GOP’s own officials and it still won’t take the pandemic official.
