The Associate part seemed odd to me too, but I assumed it was Associate without tenure, teaching track. Which is not common, but not unheard of either. Especially for people with distinguished careers. For example, Joe Biden holds the rank of Professor at a couple of schools.

Being reminded today how the empathy gene is missing in huge swathes of the Indian population.
Someone close to me who feel victim to phishing. one of the most analytically brilliant people I know, a legit Prof. Fell victim in his retirement yrs when he was also having some mental health issues. Pretty big chunk of money. Had to go to cops. Who leaked to media instantly.
Despite the family begging the cops to please not let this get out in the media, or even if as a cautionary tale, to please keep his name confidential. To no avail. The whole colony was "but he is so intelligent! How did he not do xyz to verify?" for weeks. Not great for him.
In 2021, surely you can find more deserving targets of schadenfreude.
