If you thought that, you'd be wrong. The two levels of extra thermal radiation they tested were +80 W/m² and +250 W/m².
I'm not kidding, that's really what they did. They baked their poor grass plants with ≈86× the increase expected from a full doubling of CO2.

Also, Jasper Ridge tested only perennial wild grasses, not agricultural crops. Such tests are irrelevant for most agriculture, because most crops are annual, and easily adapted to slight changes is temperature by adjusting planting dates & cultivars.

Look again at the photo of the heat lamps at Jasper Ridge. Notice the ladies’ windblown hair. One of the problems with F.A.C.E. studies is that wind causes unnaturally large fluctuations in CO2 levels, which is why F.A.C.E. studies usually under-report the benefits of eCO2.

To find a result in which warmer temperatures cause significant crop damage, you either have to use wildly unrealistic tests (like the Jasper Ridge wild grass study), or else assume that farmers are too stupid to adjust their planting dates (like PNAS's Zhao 2017 did).

eCO2 also enables plants to use water more efficiently. It does so by increasing carbon uptake relative to transpiration. In other words, when grown with higher CO2 levels, plants need less water to get the carbon they need from CO2 in the atmosphere.
