Countless colleges sent out statements condemning the American justice system following the guilty verdict in the Derek Chauvin trial
Let's start with Iowa State University...🧵
1/ @IowaStateU told students that they should be fearful of police because the death of Floyd could have happened to their “father, mother, brother, or sister — or even themselves.”
2/ @UMich's Board of Regents sent out a message to students that claimed the defense of Chauvin was racist and that police officers are "failing" people.
3/ @UMich also started a "George Floyd Memorial Scholarship Fund" to support students “who have demonstrated commitment to bettering their community through social justice.”
4/ @AmericanU claimed that the school is still confronting systemic racism and endemic violence in 2021, specifically mentioning the January 6 Capitol “insurrection.”
The school also announced "black affinity housing" (which are just racially segregated dorms)
5/ @JohnsHopkins sent an email connecting the Chauvin results to transgender issues...
