Lets talk about how derpibooru.org decided to deal with the nazi and white supremacist My Little Pony content on its site.
To briefly recap: The site attempted to ban nazis from the site last year, resulting in a massive site-wide shitstorm.
While on the surface, the decision to simply remove all nazi content from the site may seem like a simple one, there was one issue:
They had waited so long to act on the issue that many users and even mods were pro-nazi. This resulted in them panicking and reversing the decision
But it didn't end there! The flip-flopped AGAIN and decided "okay we maybe need to ban SOME nazis". The admin who had tried to take a pro-nazi stance quit, and a site-wide shakeup commenced.
A compromise was reached. They decided to remove SOME of the nazi stuff.
In the end, Derpibooru decided to deal with the problem in the same way this fandom deals with many of its problems.
They hid it.
The nazi content is still there, its now simply hidden by the default filters.
You don't even have to have an account to view our fun little secret. Just change your filters to "Everything". Hell the site will remember the change for you so you only have to do it once!
Then its a nazi free-for-all, with a distinctly My Little Pony twist.
Derpibooru's lackluster stance does two things:
1. Make it seem like on the surface we're a squeaky clean community that definitely DOES NOT have an issue with nazis haha whee horsies
2. Allows nazis to operate covertly in our spaces without pushback.
The site had waited so long to deal with the issue that by the time they tried to do ANYTHING to rid themselves of it, it was like late-stage cancer: so deeply rooted in the site's core that it was impossible to remove.

Truth be told, I'm tired of talking about this. I don't WANT to talk about this.
But now that skinny beanpole white supremacists are writing love letters to Applejack before murdering 8 people MAYBE something will actually change. That's all I can ask for.
