Given its Thursday and I’m only online for a little while longer. I wanted to pay homage to the strong Blak Women who have come before me. There are too many to name, but here are a few 🖤
My mumma, Olive Munro, a proud Dunghutti Biripi woman and primary teacher out on Gomeroi Country.
My Grandmother, Noma Naylor (nee Cook). A Dunghutti Biripi Matriarch who’s love was endless.
My Nin, Jenny Munro. A Wiradjuri Matriarch and powerhouse who inspires me every day.
My Aunty, Lorna Munro. A Wiradjuri Poet who constantly reminds me that the love of a Blak Aunty is so special and incomparable 🖤
My Aunty Lyn Thompson (nee Craigie). A Gamilaraay Woman who’s contribution to the Redfern Black Rights movement will never be forgotten. What a legacy.
Aunty Isabel Coe, A Wiradjuri Woman who held it down at the Tent Embassy for 30 odd years. Reminding us that the Embassy is where it all started and to keep the fire burning🔥
Gwenda Stanley. A Gomeroi Activist and dancer. A constant reminder that Moree is everywhere 🤪🥰
Lastly, my Aunty @LyndaJune1. A Wiradjuri Matriarch who never lets me forget who I am and where I come from; and when we centre ourselves in our Sovereignty, this world has so much love to give. 🖤
