Below are my highlights of @ID4AFRICA Webinar on COVID Creditionals by Dr. Pramod Varma @pramodkvarma Chief Architect of Addhaar (India Identity program), IndiaStack and DIVOC; Open Source Digital Infrastructure for Vaccination Open Credentials #COVIDVaccination @India_Stack

Large-scale vaccination programs need multiple systems to interplay seamlessly and orchestrated digitally:
* Vaccine readiness, Storage & Supply Chain,
* Capacity Building, Training & Field Support, and
* Field Vaccine Administration and Management

DIVOC is not a service. Designed to be hosted by anyone. Built to be a multinational, multilingual open-source, standard-driven, and scalable public good to digitally orchestrate large-scale vaccination and certification programs. Not exclusive to covid vaccines. #immunisation

Vaccination Certificate based on WHO draft guideline using W3C verifiable credentials @WHO @W3C

Authentication via verifiable digitally signed QR Code. Printable for non-smartphone users

Integration with immunization registry and health lockers (as available). #DigitalWallets

* 145 Million+ digital certificates issued in India
* Citizen registration (Web, Mobile, IVR, or assisted)
* Open specification, fully API based, allowing anyone to integrate verification in exiting systems
* Massively scalable for "India scale" benchmarked @ 10 million per day

On National ID:

* DIVOC is Multi-ID compliant works with any digitally verifiable ID (mobile number, email, bank id, etc.)

* Addhar (India Digital ID) encouraged but not mandated ensuring the lack of ID does not lead to exclusion

On VCs:

Issuances of Credentials are centralized (in India). However, verification can be integrated into any app; national or intl.

Certification is portable such as imports into TravelPass or CommonPass, etc.

Validation only requires Public key (no connection required)

On Blockchain:

* Not using blockchain (in India) because transaction volumes are high

* However, can be used for subsequent credential issuance - the hash value of the credential can go into blockchain

* Ideal for countries where central systems are not reliable or stable
